Poetry Ceilidh Attempts

I've been asked to participate in The Beehive's Poetry Ceilidh, and as I am feeling poetically inhibited and know that my limited skills will balk at being pushed beyond their capacity, tonight I'm going to re-post a poem I wrote last fall.
If you choose to read this poem, you must participate! If I can, anyone can!

-----

i can see the beauty
people, colours, and tin cans
rusted in a heap
brighter berries than before

only you see something
else - nobody else saw
some small beauty
in me

Be sure to hop over to the Beehive and see the other contributers!

Kite Day - 3/10/09

we human ships, caught by wind
breezing us through shining clouds
fingertips breathe
lifting feet off daisy blossoms

written last year

i would paint you a world
that i could love you in
without the distraction of me

but my talent goes only
to watercolour trees
and smudged pencil trees

i would sketch a self portrait
to make you think i'm perfect
and then maybe you could love me

but i can only do so much
