Every morning I wake up, with lingering dreams of you
And my heart is beguiled
I struggle to think just what else I can do
Than log into my favourite online social networking website!
I want to be in your profile picture
I want to be a permanent fixture
On your wall
You're so beautiful
I want to be in your profile status
Feature in the place where you update us
Maybe then I'll have you in mine
I heart you online
I can see from your information
You like japanese animation
And stir-fry
Well so do I
I've read the books that you love reading
I must say you're quite appealing
Maybe you could poke me some time!
I heart you online
ba ba da....
Click on my face and tell me that you love me!
You sent a message with three kisses
Could be wrong, but I think this is
Your way
To convey
That my love's not unrequited
But I won't get too excited
Since you're only virtually mine
I heart you online

feeling inspired
...ha ha ha...
it was so pretty, i couldn't do other things during it, really. it's set in the 40's, and the costumes and makeup are wonderful, and the dialogue feels like an old movie.
so now i'm still sitting here, same basket of laundry, with two washcloths folded. hmm.
actually, you know what? i have come to a decision. from now on, whenever i want to watch something while doing laundry, i'll force myself to only watch humphrey bogart movies, because i usually don't understand those anyway. i still don't know quite what was going on in "The Big Sleep", do you?

a true white Christmas
Cecil and Percy were delighted to look out the window on this Christmas Eve to see SNOW!
Brother spud Dan was being a silly and not going into the snow...
Cecil and Percy love snow even more than I do! They've sat in the window watching it ALL day.

(insert nutcracker theme here)

Honestly, I had a hard time not rooting for the mice. They were played by the little kids ballet group, and were so small and fluffy and cute! There was one that was tiny and white and fluffy and she bounced when she walked.

Pleasant View
Today, on my way home from my sister's house, I passed Pleasant View Drive and was seized by this intense need to see the house I grew up in.
So I drove up the hill my sister broke her roller skates on, past the driveway we sledded down every winter with all the neighborhood kids (and there were lots of kids), past the sidewalk I learned to ride my bike on, the backyard where my best friend kissed me when I was 6, up to the little blue and white house.
And everything was the same. The fence was more faded, and the crack in the sidewalk (we used to hide things there) a little bigger, but almost everything was the same. The Dann's house was still immaculately clean and incredibly red, the spot on the pavement where Jason spilled the paint was still bright purple, the Coryn's house still dark and scary. Even those garish, mismatched, blessed purple and pink crepe myrtle trees were still there.
This was the house we loved most. Here the March family grew, had a war, survived a flood by building an ark... here the Greens visited and Elliebird and Monolog and I put on our horrifically long plays about separated Scottish twins who get glued together by fate. I met my best friend, Emily, at this house. In this house we sheltered a litter of rescued kittens and a herd of baby chicks (we tried to teach them to fly... oops), and saved our beautiful kitten, Shadow, from an abusive home and a horrible thunderstorm. He was with us 15 years, and died last week. While we had him he served as King of Beanieland, fierce protector of the March and Halfpenny farm (our dollhouse world), show lion in our backyard circuses, Emperor of the neighborhood animals, and cart-oxen for our dolls.
I didn't expect to cry. I miss Shadow, my little friends, the silly fights we had about which polly pocket house was best, Jason, the muddy-shoe club, and all the silly things that make being little feel so different.

Happy Ugly Sweater Day!

...My teeth freak me out in this one. Actually I look pretty awful in all of these. Oh well. The sweater in person was more of a Sandra Bullock in While You Were Sleeping kind of look... not just... like... Frosty the Snowman.

We named the tree Bill, and decided that someday we will be in charge of decorating it, and will put a moustached face on it. Yes!

There was this really cute guy there, and he was an amazing skater! Fancy jumps and stuff! Plus, later on he put on a really awesome logger hat with a fur pom-pom on top. Nice.

Waiting for the Zamborghini to be done (isn't my face crazy red!?haha). Yes, a Zamborghini is a really fancy Italian Zamboni.

On the fourth day of Christmas...
To get you in the wintery mood, here is "Toast: a small winter film", just released by the amazing European store (much like Anthropologie), Toast aw08.
What they said about it...
"This short mood movie brings to life the still shots you might have seen in our four aw08 catalogues. Shot on location in Slovakia and Hungary on a vintage Super8 camera by our wonderful photographer Jenny Zarins, cunningly put together by filmmaker Arvid Eriksson and with music specially composed and performed by Bellowhead member Sam Sweeney, it's a small, evocative, dreamy jewel of a film"

This is great... I love when people put some effort into their commercials and make them artistic.

Oh man.
So... I'm babysitting again tonight, and Wes told his dad before he left,
And then before he went to bed (after I told him a very, very, very modified version of Peter Rabbit, wherein Peter was named Wes and fought Mr. Macgregor because Macgregor was growing deadly vegetables to kill all the rabbits. Beatrix Potter, I'm sorry.) he told me,

Mr. Demille
But the most exciting part... this morning the Auditor emailed me for a callback! Yea! So Saturday morning I'll be going there with bells on. Or off. Whatever I feel like.
Cecil is suprisingly supportive of this theatrical endeavor. He says that "theatre is the mixed pursuit of all art forms and therefore something to be admired."
Percy just thinks the sets are pretty.
(the sister spud wanted me to talk about her in this post ... so here. Sister spud is eating pizza right now.)

psst
I'm in Memphis right now, visiting the Beauchamps for Daniel and Andrew's college graduation party! The womenfolk are in the kitchen cooking now, and I'm making pretty paper decorations to make things more festive.
Reminder: Ugly Sweater Day is coming up on Thursday... have you got your sweaters yet? Please remember to take a picture of yourself in your ugly sweater and send it to nfhearne@yahoo.com ! Can't wait to see the festive ugliness! I have plans on Thursday to go ice skating with some friends at the oh-so-festive galleria rink (they have the biggest, sparkliest tree in the world!) in our ugly sweaters. Any plans?

yay

In other news, I'm currently preparing for a piano performance (two pieces to memorize for next saturday) and an open casting audition for Pride and Prejudice. I have to do a prepared monologue... I'm deciding between the "Down the Rabbit Hole" monologue from Alice in Wonderland and "Thought as Fair as She" from Midsummer Night's Dream. What do you think?

The Wenceslot Game
My sister and I recently created a Christmastide game, and we think it is brilliant.
So, I'm going to introduce you to it.
It is "The Wenceslot Game"
In this game, you take a classic Christmas song and go back and forth singing a verse, changing the words as you go. The trick is that though it is always completely silly, you have to have some kind of storyline, and you must use a rhyme scheme.
(the game is called Wenceslot because Good King Wenceslot...ack....las!... is a great one to play with. And I can NEVER remember that his name wasn't Wenceslot.)
So. For our game, I have chosen "God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman". I will start, you continue!
God bless you, merry gentleman, for that was quite a sneeze...
