Senior Picture Shoot # 3!

Yesterday I shot my dearie Emily's senior pictures at the Arboretum and Whiterock lake

They were a picture win!

Afterwards? crabcakes and rich dessert at ST Cafe!

And a quick stop by the Janie Christy school of dance, our ballet alma mater! not that we... graduated... or anything. It was so fun to see the tulle skirts and pink hallways again! Brought back those memories, for sure!

The Book Group of Wonder

I've recently organized a book group with some wonderful friends I met in a Shakespeare class. We meet once a month, and so far we've read Manalive, by GK Chesterton, and The Age of Innocence, by Edith Wharton. Last night was our third meeting, we had a potluck dinner and cupcakes... and I just want to say...

these girls are incredible. It's not often you meet 8 girls who are all brilliant, eloquent, lively, funny and awesome in the same class. It just amazes me where all our conversation goes...

social annahilization - hamlet - twilight bashing - obama - darth vader - chuck norris - marc chagall - christian artists - edward elgar - creating our own university - gilbert and sullivan - and on and on until late into the evening.

It is wonderful, they are wonderful. I hope you have friends as awesome and brilliant as mine.

(most of us are in the picture, which was taken on the last day of Shakespeare class with the amazing Mrs Lovell.)

Go buy some golden socks, weyah famous!

So... I looked up the movie "Sons of Katie Elder" because it was on TCM and I recorded it, and it turns out it's about these brothers from Graham, Tx, which is pretty cool. BUT even more amazing, Graham has a Wikipedia page! I read the page, and there was a section on famous people from Graham... Here's what I found:

"Big Ed" Wilkes - Popular radio personality and recipient of the Lubbock Outstanding Agriculturist Award.

Bob Lilly - Author of photography book, "Bob Lilly Reflections", and Dallas Cowboy's defensive tackle, first inductee of the cowboy's ring of honour.

William McFarlane - Texas Representative and National Security Advisor for Reagan!

Rex Brown - Heavy metal bassist.

and my favorite...

Dean Smith - Won a gold medal in the 52 Olympics, played for the Steelers, he was a stuntman in many western movies and tv shows, and he was a pro rodeo cowboy. He actually recieved a "golden boot award", was named an "all-american cowboy", and he was inducted into the texas rodeo cowboy hall of fame.

I hope you enjoyed this little history lesson.

and finally someone wins!

after three fail posts, it's time for a win! and what win is better than a cupcake win? i would dearly love to have this cupcake table and cupcake seat... but i fear they would make me hungry all the time, and it wouldn't be broccoli i was hungry for, it would be CUPCAKES!

eureka!

i absolutely love the feeling you get when you solve a technology problem that seemed unsolveable. its just... oh yes.

makes me feel like one of those awesome geeks that are always in movies... the ones who are supposed to be geeky but wind up being the coolest character in the entire movie. i won!
