whoosh!

well i'm going back and forth on whether or not to keep up with on here during this phase in my life... so... until i decide...

i'm in college! just finished my first day and i kind of love it. a lot. and i'm writing this on my fancy pantsy mac that i got for school... i'm double-majoring in animation and art... so... yay!

til i make up my ever befuddled mind... farewell

ps hayden and caitlin are cool. and emily. just. anyway. bye now.

mmm yes please

today i failed. lots. in many ways. i don't feel like telling about it, but i do want to share my remedy for the faily-day-blues.

what do we do on Richard Scarry's Worst Day Ever?

we dry our tears, wash our faces, and go to Pinkberry.

my personal favorite? mango with raspberries, strawberries, and shaved chocolate. mmm. i'm having a hard time not spending every waking moment thinking about it.

would you like to know a secret?

... i have kind of a crazy far-reaching insane person dream job.

firstly... my major is arts and performance, with an emphasis on visual art and a potential minor in arts in tech/animation.

(how i wish i could have multiple minors and pursue that drama/dance minor also... blah! maybe i'll double-major after all. don't you love my typical freshman indecisiveness?)

someday i hope to write children's books

i've thought about looking into animation as a career, also
not so much the digital side of it, as the aesthetic co-ordination side of it.
and the perfect oh so perfect wishicouldhaveit job for me...

working as a aesthetic team member at pixar.
ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... it pains me to know that such a perfect wonderful job in such a wonderful place exists. it's like that job is a celebrity, and i can't even talk to it it's so much fancier than me.

and the thing is... they offer paid internships.

hmm. san francisco? =/

jenny's graduation masquerade, to which i went as my favorite, tinkerbell =)
prom
GRADUATION!

(that may or may not be but definitely is the only picture i have of my graduation party at the moment... my camera is at the cousins' house. anyway its harris and me swing dancing post-party)

more on all the above to come later!

summer is here
i'm out of highschool forever
i've been accepted to college
it's warm
things are good
even though life is ridiculous, unpredictable, off-tempo most of the time, often completely awkward, frustrating, terrifying, vast, and open.

things are good.

why am i upset about this?

well. i'm just not sure why i'm upset about this.

my formal dress is too big. my formal dress which fit in january is now falling off me.

normally i'd be all "yay" but i need it for saturday night!

anyway i just thought that was a funny thing for me to be upset about. so i thought i'd share.
i figure i've got two options: eat a whole wedding cake and a flock of sandwiches before then... or get a different dress. or a fairy godmother. so three.

things i like

which of the listed items is a thing beatrice likes?

a. pre-rehearsal picnics on the grassy median with jenny (where, by the way, i got my first sunburn of the summer. ! )

b. little girls on swings

c. wearing mixed prints to a "the notebook" watching party... which dear summer only let me come to if i promised not to mock the movie. don't tell her but i did. in my heart. it's just so silly! i mean really... people don't just die at the same time because they're in love.

d. the accumulated nerdiness of dan and caitlin and me.

e. pancake making parties with emily! (yes that is a delicious raspberry sauce on that pancake. and yes, that is a banana pancake.)

f. all of the above!

this is only slightly a rant

ok. let me just say. i don't like to use this space as a ranting space... it's not a nice thing to do. its better to use your shower as a ranting space, or your car, or your long-suffering and ever-supportively-dear co-star's ear. these are all places which are acceptable as ranting spaces. not blogs. blogging a rant is like saying ... hey... i'm upset, therefore the whole world should be too, cause i'm just. that. important. no no no. that is why this is purposefully not a rant. it is a rasson. a rant/lesson, because i've learned from this little experience.

you know how mla formatting says we must always preface our writings by stating our point bluntly and without art? ok. here goes.

people should be more thankful. more grateful. less mean. less unfeeling. more CHRISTLIKE.

today i was at Jake's picking up hamburgers for my mom and me, and after sitting in (and being cut in front of in) the drive thru lane for 15 minutes, decided to just go in. on coming out, crossing the parking lot, i saw a guy and his little kids walking across the parking lot too, but the guy was so consumed with his cell-phone he didn't realize that his 5 year old daughter was about to be run over by a truck. i ran over and pulled her out of the way in time (i don't say this to brag, i say it because...wait for iiittt) and the man pocketed his iphone just in time to see me pull her out of the street... and so he comes over, and ... oh. ok. starts cussing me out.

really?

really?!?

i would write out the conversation here, except that his part of it was about 50% swearing. the gist of it was,

what do you think you're doing, stupid lady
just keeping your daughter from getting killed, thats all
well you shouldn't, woman, it's none of your business
it has to be someone's business if her father is ignoring the fact that she is about to get run over
well i'm her father, i should be the one making that call
yeah, that's what i'm saying, you SHOULD be
go away, stupid, zip your face.

yeah, you're welcome.

i just really don't think that people should get berated for doing something nice for someone, especially not by the person they did it for. so here's what i'm going to do. i'm going to start recognizing the little things people do that are nice more often.

gratefulness is a wonderful thing. i started this out just now, by saying thanks to my aforementioned ever-supportive-co-star because he was something of a lifesaver in rehearsal today, when i was freaking out about not knowing one of our dance numbers, he grabbed my shoulders and looked me in the eyes and said "hey you. we've got this. we're gonna be great." and though it seems like such a small, simple thing, it was exactly what i needed to hear, so bless the people like that.

so if someone does something nice for you,

DON'T:
yell at them
call them names
criticize the way they did it
cuss them out
talk about them behind their back

DO:
give them cookies
say thank you
write them a note
smile at them
hug them (if it's someone you know =) awkward potential there)
put a note on their windshield wiper
give them more cookies

remember in Mark 14, when Mary poured the precious ointment on Jesus' feet? Judas objected, criticizing the way she was serving God, saying it should be sold, and the money given to the poor... but Jesus saw the blessing of servanthood in her gift.

He said "She hath done what she could."

do what you can. and don't bring down people who are trying to do what they can.
