P.S.A.

or, Public Service Announcement.

ladies, tights/leggings are not intended to be worn as pants, and there is never and never will be a situation where it is even remotely appropriate to wear them as such!

(this PSA is brought on by after-class annoyance. today several of the more spunky girls in class did this awful thing, and it really really bugs me.)

chuck norris. i won.

when you take the sat, write "Chuck Norris" as every answer. you will score 2410.

Chuck Norris doesn't read books, he stares them down until he gets the information he wants.

oh yes, and keds, also. yay for those!

hoorah for...

dr. george. yes, ideas do have consequences.

the colour red. imagine how funny we'd look without it!

the brain's ability to comprehend and accept logic.

c.s. lewis.

the mental sigh of relief when the big creepy person in the bunny suit passes by and doesn't talk to you.

boo for...

the big creepy bunny-human actually talking to you, hugging you, doing creepy dances...ugh.

really cold fingers.

snoopy people.

people who seem completely incapable of accepting the conclusions of basic logic.

artichoke oil...you know, that gross smelling oil thats left in the artichoke can after you take all the artichokes out.

forgetting to do things... especially if when you finally get around to it you find that mold has grown.

quack? really? is that the way its going to be now?

two days ago, our sometimes great annoyance and always great amusement, Wooster (or Jeeves, depending on his mood. he's usually Wooster.) dissapeared. after searching high and low and finding nary a sign of him, he was finally found two houses down... poor stupid animal couldn't find his way home from two houses away.

or at least this is the story we were told. the truth, the cold, hard truth is that Wooster the cat ran away to join the circus, and in an attempt to keep us from grieving his loss, father dear replaced him with ...

a Duck.

he oh so cleverly taught this duck to walk like a cat, and gave him a sneaky cat costume to wear, but forgot one very important detail. the Duck still quacks. yes, duck-Wooster quacks, though he looks exactly like cat-Wooster.

currently listening

Aconteceu,

Ana Moura

Ana Moura is a Portuguese Fado singer. Fado is a centuries old Portuguese music tradition that is apparently really hard to explain, I guess cause I don't know that much about it. The lyrics are usually melancholy and sentimental, and the music is usually voice and spanish guitar and no other accompaniment. Anyway, this album is really good, and her voice is gorgeous. Its funny, her accent in portuguese sounds almost eastern european sometimes.

wha?

ok, so everyone has heard the phrase "niceties", and you know what it means- little things people say that are nice to say but are just things to say to alleviate awkward moments... they bug me. but what about MEANITYS? seriously, people, i've heard more meanitys than nicities this week! a meanity is when someone makes a statement or a joke that is meant to be funny, and isn't true at all but they just said it because it was funny and in some other relationship it might possibly be true.

just because there could be someone in the world who would say that and mean it doesn't mean that you should say it!

example:

teenage guy 1: this chicken is really bad.
teenage guy 2: yeah, like my mom's cooking, like, all the time.

or

teenage girl 1: what do you think of teenage guy 1?
teenage girl 2: oh, i dunno, hes kinda oblivious and not that bright
teenage girl 1: yeah, but all guys are, right girl?

come on people!

oh the mental images

between classes today i walked over to walgreens with two friends to get index cards, powdered creamer for the lunchroom, and superglue, and as we were standing there in the office supply aisle, we heard this over the loudspeakers:

"employee needed for customer assistance in the shaving department!"

this brought some rather funny mental images.
